Shush Books

Shush Books is the main imprint of Shaherazad Shelves and publishes books at all readership levels. It was launched after seeing Muslim viewpoints and cultural heritage filtered for commercial consumption, skewing what it means to look and be Muslim. The open period for unsolicited submissions is April 14 - June 14.

As Islam has one of the most diverse adherent groups in the world, comprising nearly two billion people and tens of millions who can read and write English, the purpose of Shush Books is to enrich the literary market with Islamicate works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry by Muslims. We are strong believers that a Muslim does not have to sacrifice his or her faith to be successful or influential. Not only will we embrace Muslim writers, but we will also empower their voices and range of religiosity. Together, we can make Islamicate literature, fiction or otherwise, flourish.
