The SHAHERAZAD AWARD for LITERARY ACHIEVING MUSLIMS (SALAM) is a micro-grant that recognizes Muslims who have or are pursuing literary excellence in the book publishing space. The grant aims to help alleviate a financial burden that may inhibit the creative process and/or recognize a Muslim author who has contributed significantly to the Islamicate fiction space through his or her work(s).
We award any number of Muslims. We do not restrict how the grant is used; you may use it for literary courses or to buy a new phone charger. All books with a Muslim theme are eligible to be nominated without regard to publishing date.
The SALAM grant amount (no less than 100 USD) will be distributed at our discretion. For works being nominated for their contribution, Muslim writers will receive monetary compensation and a label for their cover.
We have the right to allocate the grant in any way and to refuse to award any grants despite receiving nominations.
SALAM is currently open. You may nominate yourself or another Muslim writer. Please email the name of the Muslim writer or book title, contact information, and reason for nomination.
